This past Thursday, October 21st, the Spanish River High School’s WSRH-TV and Gibson Guitars presented Rock the River in Boca Raton, FL. For this event nine bands gathered to offer their music and stage presence for about three hours. Local bands and artists Wing It, Celestial Sound, Fourth and Ten, Alaska, Dead Bang!, The Funky Nuggets, and Brett Lowenstern led the first part of the event while Amber Leigh Band and The Reprieve closed out the event.
Towards the end of the event, and probably one of the most anticipated moments, Gibson gave away a brand new Epiphone Les Paul Gibson guitar. Rather than doing a raffle, the organizers asked those interested in this Gibson Guitar, to write a short one/two sentence description on why they should be the recipients of this awesome instrument. The selected winner was 9th grader Gia Doxey who shared how her Dad, due to financial reasons, had sold his own Gibson guitar in order to make ends meet.
